Brompton Design District 2025 X LDF - The Fluxx Guide

Brompton Design District has long established itself as one of London Design Festival’s most dynamic hubs, uniting global design brands, pioneering cultural institutions, and independent voices within a neighbourhood renowned for its creativity. Home to the V&A and a vibrant constellation of showrooms, retailers, and hospitality, Brompton continues to redefine what a design district can be.

For LDF 2025, Brompton Design District welcomes Alex Tieghi-Walker as curator. Alongside the unveiling of new collections in leading design showrooms, Tieghi-Walker presents a series of temporary exhibitions shaped around the curatorial theme “A Softer World.”

This year’s programme celebrates design that listens, connects, and invites care at its centre. Bringing together designers who resist the hard edges of dominant systems, “A Softer World” favours sensitivity over speed, and nuance over noise. From tactility and material memory to poetic form and emotional resonance, softness emerges as a vital tool—reconnecting us with each other, with the environments we inhabit, and with the objects we create and use every day.

Anchored at The Lavery, 4 Cromwell Place, with further exhibitions across the District, Brompton offers visitors a journey through a unique landscape of design, where innovation, reflection, and care meet

Jakkai Siributr : There’s No Place - V&A

There’s No Place by artist Jakkai Siributr is a collaborative embroidery project that explores identity, belonging, and home, inspired by his response to the ongoing refugee crisis along the Thai-Burma border. Created in dialogue with displaced Shan communities at Thailand’s Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp, the installation invites participants to embroider their reflections directly onto the textiles, blurring the boundaries between citizen and refugee. Accompanied by a specially composed soundscape of field recordings—capturing the voices, hopes, and dreams of young refugees—the work offers a poignant, multi-sensory experience. Developed in collaboration with Shan Youth Power and architect Jamjaras Suchiva, and supported by the Royal Thai Embassy, London, on the 170th Anniversary of Thai–UK diplomatic relations, with additional support from Flowers Gallery, the installation opens a powerful cross-border dialogue on resilience, identity, and collective memory.

Ramzi Mallat : Not Your Martyr - V&A

Not Your Martyr by artist Ramzi Mallat is an intimate memorial to the lives lost in the 2020 Beirut Port explosion, which killed over 240 people and devastated the city. Marking five years since the blast, the work takes the form of vibrant glass ma’amoul—traditional Lebanese shortbread pastries shared during Easter and Eid as symbols of unity and shared heritage that transcend religious difference. In a context where official memory remains fraught and contested, Mallat describes the piece as a “counter-monument,” not only to the explosion but also to the Lebanese Civil War, which began fifty years ago. Shown alongside Debris of Text and Eyeglasses by Lebanese artists Rana Haddad and Pascal Hachem, within the display Counter-Monuments, Beirut, the work uses the fragility of glass and the intimacy of the everyday to reflect on loss, memory, and resilience. Supported by the V&A’s Jameel Programme.
