Legado Shoreditch: A Modern Spanish Masterpiece.
The Next Chapter from Chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho
In the heart of Shoreditch, Legado has fast become one of London’s most distinctive new fine-dining destinations, a restaurant that unites Spanish heritage, elegant design and the creative evolution of Chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho, the Michelin-starred talent behind Sabor and Barrafina.
Chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho
Born in the Basque coastal town of Santurtzi, Barragán Mohacho’s respect for ingredients and culinary storytelling runs deep. After shaping London’s love affair with Spanish food, she now brings her vision to Legado — meaning legacy — a restaurant that embodies her journey from Bilbao’s markets to the heart of London’s modern dining scene.
Brick, Tile and Flame: Legado’s Design Language of Modern Spain
Set within Montacute Yards, the restaurant pairs refined architectural beauty with warmth and authenticity. Guests enter through a lively Taberna, inspired by Spain’s traditional bars, where fluted arches, tiled detailing and a deli counter filled with seafood and charcuterie lead into the dining space. Beyond lies a double-height room framed in London stock brick, anchored by two hand-built wood-fired ovens from Segovia, glowing focal points that cook signature dishes like Cordero Asado (roast lamb) and Cochinillo Asado (suckling pig). Natural wood counters and sage-green patterned tiles add a tactile richness that feels both Spanish and unmistakably East London.

A Menu Rooted in Heritage, Refined Through Innovation
The menu is a celebration of regional tradition and ingredient-led innovation. To start, highlights include Queen Scallop Vinaigrette, Cantabrian Anchovy with Smoked Cheese on Brioche, and Quisquillas de Cádiz, the prized transparent shrimp of southern Spain. Barragán Mohacho’s deft hand with seafood continues in Grilled Octopus with Smoked Paprika, Skate Wing Tortilla with Mojo Verde, and Mackerel Meatballs in Jamón Dashi, showcasing the harmony between land and sea.

From the grill, dishes like Lamb Cutlets Milanesa, Chargrilled Milk-Fed Lamb Kidneys, and Iberian Pork Ribs embody the restaurant’s whole-animal philosophy, while the Herb-Crusted Rabbit Shoulder and the Legado Sandwich, made over two days with Swiss chard, Cecina and smoked cheese, demonstrate a playful nostalgia for Spanish home cooking. Vegetables and desserts receive equal reverence: Courgette Tempura with Piquillo Sauce, Churros with Dulce de Leche, and Apple Empanada with Cider Sauce speak to the kitchen’s seasonal, ingredient-first ethos.
Complementing the food is a 150-bin wine list, curated by Head Sommelier Marcus Segurado, featuring benchmark producers and small-batch winemakers from Rioja to Rías Baixas. Guests are encouraged to explore through 18 rotating wines by the glass, or begin with the Three-Sip Serve — a flight of seasonal aperitifs served in hand-thrown ceramics that evoke the regions of Spain.
Inside The Bodega: Nieves Barragán Mohacho’s Table for Celebration and Connection
For groups, The Bodega offers a more immersive dining experience. Designed for 7–12 guests, this private space brings together Nieves’s favourite dishes and dramatic centrepieces, whole-roasted suckling pig, grilled lamb shoulders, and generous sharing plates, served family-style in a setting that channels the spirit of Spanish feasting. Ideal for festive gatherings or special occasions, The Bodega encapsulates Legado’s balance of intimacy, elegance and conviviality.
With its union of architectural craft, culinary precision and emotional storytelling, Legado stands as a defining expression of modern Spanish dining in London. Rooted in heritage yet alive with innovation, it captures everything we love about creativity, culture and design-led gastronomy, a true Fluxx destination for 2026 and beyond.
