Bar Somma, Singapore

A bold new destination bar where Italian elegance meets contemporary cocktail artistry.

Tucked into the vibrant heart of Singapore, Bar Somma is the kind of place that feels plucked from the pages of an Italian film script—cinematic, sensual, and steeped in quiet sophistication. Inspired by the golden age of classic cocktails and cultural icons, this modern Italian cocktail bar offers a transportive experience where nostalgia meets next-gen mixology.

The latest concept from chef Mirko Febbrile, Bar Somma channels his Puglian roots through a Singaporean lens, realised with exquisite attention to detail by London- and Sydney-based design studio, Nice Projects. The result is a space that feels both globally attuned and deeply personal.

Under the creative leadership of bar manager Mel Chavez, the cocktail programme leans into expressive reinvention—familiar flavours reimagined with unexpected layers and sensory detail. Supported by an in-house test kitchen, each drink is meticulously crafted, bridging classic foundations with bold innovation.

Highlights include the Margarita for Mel—a lush blend of coconut-infused Código Blanco tequila, crème de cacao, and lime cordial—and the punchy Miso Sidecar, which amplifies Courvoisier VSOP with orange caramel miso and triple sec. For something refreshing yet complex, the Rum Happiness combines Matusalem Rum Insolito with watermelon, lemon, honey, and Ancho Verde for a sophisticated tropical twist.

Every pour is paired with elevated small plates, creating a dynamic tasting experience that feels intimate and transportive, like aperitivo hour along the Adriatic—but with a Singapore skyline outside.

ar Somma’s interior is a study in tactile modernism. The palette is muted but warm, echoing coastal Italy with travertine, grey-veined marble, soft peach linens, leather finishes, and rich burgundy tones. It’s luxurious without shouting—offering a cool, sculptural calm that invites you to linger long after the last sip.

At the heart of the space is a 6.5-metre ceramic installation by Puglian artist Vincenzo Del Monaco. Handmade across 230 tiles, the piece spans the main dining wall like a mural of quiet drama. Del Monaco also collaborated with Nice Projects to design a set of bespoke crockery, bridging tradition and modern hospitality with every dish served.
