The Art of Après at sketch London

A Must-Visit Christmas Escape in Mayfair (14 Nov 2025 – 5 Jan 2026)

Every winter, London unveils its share of festive pop-ups and seasonal spectacles, but few capture the imagination quite like Christmas at sketch. For 2025, the iconic Mayfair destination invites guests into The Art of Après: a fully immersive celebration of alpine magic, creative expression and that unmistakable après-ski spirit we crave during the colder months. Running from 14th November 2025 to 5th January 2026, it’s one of the most transportive and joy-filled festive experiences in the capital this year.

Curated by Milly Wright, sketch’s Creative Director and Art Curator, the installation transforms the entire townhouse at 9 Conduit Street into a snow-dusted mountain escape. The concept is simple yet powerful: a journey from the heart of London to the European Alps without ever leaving Mayfair. Pine forests glisten beneath chandeliers, snowflakes swirl through the air, and each room becomes a chapter of a whimsical winter narrative brought to life by artists, florists and designers.

Wright describes the project as an invitation to step into the “joyful sketch universe”, a world shaped by creativity, warmth and togetherness. Founder Mourad Mazouz adds that the installation seeks to capture the exact moment “when the cold meets warmth”, that universal feeling of comfort and magic that defines the season.

A Festive Journey Through sketch’s Alpine Dreamscape

From the moment guests arrive, the transformation is undeniable. A gentle fall of snow (yes, real snow!) sets the tone at the entrance. Inside, each space becomes a carefully crafted scene, making sketch one of the most enchanting places to visit in London this Christmas.

The experience begins in Reception and The Glade, styled by Lucy Vail Floristry into a sensory alpine forest. Real pine trees, hand-painted backdrops, and snowy mounds of dried flowers create a winter pathway leading to a repurposed ski lift, perfect for festive photos or a pre-cocktail moment. In the Glade, the frosted tree canopy sparkles with dried flowers and glass icicles, offering one of the most tranquil spaces to enjoy seasonal cocktails.

At the East Bar and Pods, artist Ricky Paul brings a playfully nostalgic resort scene to life. A miniature mountain rises beneath the iconic dome, complete with working ski lifts and illuminated lodges. Tiny skiers weave down snow-covered slopes while real pine trees cascade down the staircase, filling the space with the scent of winter.

In the Lecture Room & Library, a highlight awaits: Mehbs Yacqub’s crystal tree, this year adorned by artist Maya Heritage. The shimmering installation, inspired by the alpine night sky, has become so beloved that it witnessed three marriage proposals during the 2025 season, a testament to its ethereal atmosphere.

Meanwhile, The Gallery glows beneath hundreds of handcrafted paper constellations created by the PomPom Factory. Inspired by falling stars and snowy ridges, the installation adds a celestial calm to one of sketch’s most iconic dining rooms.

Festive Menus, Cocktails and Afternoon Tea Worth Travelling For

Of course, sketch is as much about culinary storytelling as visual spectacle. For the festive period, mixologists have developed cocktails that reflect the mood of each installation — think crisp, alpine freshness, winter spices, and sparkling touches.

The much-loved Christmas Afternoon Tea returns from 14th November, priced from £115, including a glass of Pommery Extra Brut Royal Champagne. Seasonal menus across the Parlour and Gallery celebrate indulgence, comfort and craftsmanship, with mulled wine and winter warmers rounding out the drinks list.

Live ballerinas will perform throughout the season, adding to the dreamlike atmosphere and creating an experience that feels straight out of a winter fairytale.

Folie Saturdays: Where Après-Ski Meets Mayfair Nightlife

Every Saturday, sketch brings a burst of alpine energy to Mayfair with Folie Saturdays. Expect ice-cold Veuve Clicquot, retro ski anthems, contemporary DJ sets and a carefree, snow-kissed ambience that captures the spark of après culture.
