Ella Bulley: AMLIMA NU WƆ FƐ — My Magical Home

Commissioned by Dolce & Gabbana for Gen D. Vol 2 and curated by Federica Sala, Ella Bulley’s latest project, AMLIMA NU WƆ FƐ (My Magical Home), is a sculptural lighting collection that bridges Ghanaian heritage with Italian craftsmanship.

Inspired by the storytelling traditions of both cultures, each lamp draws on the natural resources of Ghana’s Volta Region and Accra — from quartz-rich onyx to green marble evoking lush forests, and travertine echoing earthy landscapes. The use of glass captures the shifting hues of the sky, while gold pays homage to ancestral wisdom and sacred land preservation.

The forms themselves are grounded in local identity, reflecting versatile Ghanaian produce like palm, shea, and tiger nuts — a nod to Dolce & Gabbana’s own celebration of regional ingredients. Indigenous and newly created symbols are woven throughout the work, connecting past and present, and offering a contemporary reflection on heritage, materiality, and cultural preservation.

Crafted in Italy, envisioned in Ghana — this is storytelling through sculpture, rooted in spirit, soil, and shared understanding.
